Professor Susan Ashbrook Harvey, Chair of the Dept. of Religious Studies at Brown University, is also a tonsured reader at St. Mary’s Antiochian Orthodox Church in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

Phyllis Zagano is author of numerous articles and reviews on the question of Catholic women deacons.

Valerie Karras has published numerous scholarly articles on the female diaconate and other women’s liturgical and ecclesiastical ministries.

Caren Stayer drew on her PhD in Medieval and Byzantine History to help attendees understand the history of the deaconess.
